Col du Montgenevre 1,850m Italy / France ★★★
Ridden...
2011, 2015
Description...
Col du Montgenevre is a pass in the middle of a ski town - as such it is not the most memorable. We have ridden it twice, 2011 and 2015 and both times rode up from Susa. Last time in 2015 we found the liaison rather tedious as we missed the turn on to the E70 and ended up riding through lots of villages on the SS24. We stopped off at Cesana Torinese for a coffee, repeating our 2011 stop for a last cappuccino in Italy, at the excellent Hotel Chaberton.
Then we raced up the Col and in to Montgenevre and onwards to Briancon - the pass after Montgenevre, itself is the best part of the ride.
